So I have this large panel that I gessoed and sketched on with a black oil-based sharpie. Now it seems like no matter how many layers I have, the black marker lines still show up - even after 3 layers! Even through opaques! It doesn't show up at first but emerges in the drying process. Halp!?

This is going in an exhibit in about a week and a half, by the way...
I can't believe I'm coming here for this, but I'm sure some of you might have insight to lend me some thoughtful advice.

So my mom had an embarrassing article published about me in the hometown newspaper several months ago, and now she's blown it up on facebook. For anyone, this is typically something to be proud of; however, this one isn't your typical 'so-and-so made the dean's list this semester.' It goes into detail about what I'm doing in school, stretching it to where it really couldn't be further from the truth.

It boasts things that aren't confirmed, for example, having lots of art shows and designing furniture in my studio. It goes on to say other things like that. But truth is, I'm rarely in any shows, and everyone in my class each built a chair because we had to for an assignment. The article makes me look as if I think I'm better than everybody else and is a complete joke to me. Even the picture looks snobby. I just reopened my fb account for the first time in years, and I don't want to deal with that out in the open online. While my mom is having an ego trip, I'm feeling very ashamed, because I don't want to be a lie. If my professors and classmates read the article, they would probably find it very amusing.

So embarrassed. I thought I got over this months ago, but that's hard to do with facebook. How do I deal with this? Should I say something or just brush it off and ignore it?

In a nutshell: I'm very passionate about art and want to create it for the rest of my life. ...Some might agree that the only way to really get away with that is to be stubborn, perhaps a bit eccentric, and to keep practicing.

That's awesome. I definitely think your work deserves more exposure, though. I hope to see some of it in person one day.

Thanks! I'm bad at keeping in contact and take the blame as well. Hey, you know how life goes, you get busy with something and then it's one thing after another.
